More details about this report...
At around
mid-way through each trading day we run
a screen against our database of
high-ranked stocks, searching for
possible buy candidates that are trading
at or near their 52-week high on above
average volume. The results of that
screen are split into the two sections
you see below. The first, titled
"TODAY's FEATURED STOCKS" shows stocks
that our experts have recently
identified as among the strongest candidates to
consider. Stocks highlighted in yellow
are the most timely and noteworthy, so
particular attention and prompt action
may be appropriate. The second section,
titled "TODAY's BREAKOUT SCREEN" shows
the remainder of stocks meeting today's
screen parameters. Our experts have
reviewed and included notes on these
stocks as well, but found that they may
not match up as favorably.

Hit a new 52-week high today after announcing an agreement to acquire Culver Specialty Brands, including Mrs. Dash, from Unilever. No overhead supply remains to act as resistance. It had slumped under its 200 DMA during its consolidation since last noted in the 7/06/11 mid-day report - "Its earnings history has been strong, but the lack of sales revenues growth raises concerns that there is not great or growing demand for a new (N criteria) product or services."

Holding its ground stubbornly since gapping up for a new 52-week high on 10/26/11 after encouraging headlines including an analyst upgrade. Prior mid-day reports noted - "Earnings and sales growth history is below the guidelines of the fact-based investment system, still. It survived but failed to impress since last noted in October 2007 mid-day reports after a huge gap up on news if had interested buyers including Carl Icahn."

Most Recent Note for CMG - 10/31/2011 12:03:58 PM
Touched a new all-time high today after recently wedging higher without great volume conviction. Holding its ground and inching higher following a gap up gain with heavy volume on 10/21/11 when it reported earnings +25% on +24% sales revenues for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. Found support well above its 200 DMA line during its consolidation since fundamental concerns prompted it to be dropped from the Featured Stocks list on 8/02/11. Reported earnings per share +12% on +22% sales revenues for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 versus the year ago period, marking its 2nd consecutive quarterly comparison with earnings below the +25% guideline. To satisfy the C criteria a company should show earnings increases above +25% in the past 3 or 4 quarterly comparisons or show impressive sequential acceleration in recent earnings increases, rather than being up and down with results that are lackluster and only borderline with the minimum guideline.

Most Recent Note for DISCK - 10/31/2011 12:11:53 PM
Recently encountering mild distributional pressure after quietly wedging to a new all-time high without great volume conviction behind its gains above previously stubborn resistance in the $40 area. Earnings increases have been above the +25% guideline in recent quarterly comparisons versus the year ago period(s), meanwhile, sales revenues increases in the +7-11% hint at no truly great growth in demand for new (N criteria) products or services. Ownership by top-rated funds fell from 465 in Mar '11 to 440 in Sep '11, not a reassuring sign concerning the I criteria.

Hitting yet another new high today with its 7th consecutive volume-driven gain. Prior mid-day reports repeatedly noted - "Extended from any sound base now after rallying from lows near $1 in January, steadily finding support near its 50 DMA line during its ascent. The Mar and Jun '11 quarterly comparisons showed improving sales revenues and earnings versus losses in the year-ago periods. Prior quarterly and annual earnings (C and A criteria) history has been below the guidelines of the fact-based investment system."

Challenging its 52-week high with today's 4th consecutive gain, rising from a "double bottom" base pattern which may be considered a riskier "late stage" base. Due to report earnings on Tuesday, November 1st. Strong sales revenues and earnings increases in its recent quarterly comparisons versus the year ago period(s) satisfy the C criteria. Prior mid-day reports noted - "This high-ranked Cosmetics / Personal Care group leader had a downward turn in FY '09 annual earnings history (flaw in respect to A criteria). Ownership by top-rated funds fell from 630 in Jun '11 to 604 in Sep '11, whereas rising institutional interest (I criteria) is preferred."

Gapped up today, hitting new 52-week and all-time highs while technically breaking out of a 17-week double bottom base pattern during which it found support near its 200 DMA line. Reported earnings +13% on +11% sales revenues for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. Strength and leadership (L criteria) in the HMO group is a reassuring sign. Last noted in the 10/24/11 mid-day report - "Sub par sales revenues and quarterly earnings increases raise fundamental concerns. Its annual earnings history is marred by a downturn in FY '08 earnings after years of steady growth."

Perched near its 52-week high today. It will release results of operations for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 after the market closes on Thursday, November 3, 2011. The high-ranked Telecom -Infrastructure firm has been consolidating since hitting that high when last noted in the 4/25/11 mid-day report "Recent quarters showed much better sales and earnings increases versus the year earlier. Prior quarterly comparisons and annual earnings (A criteria) growth have not been strong and steady, so it is fundamentally below guidelines of the fact-based investment system."

Today's gain helped it touch another new all-time high. Held its ground after the 10/27/11 mid-day report noted - "Rising clear of all resistance due to overhead supply. Found support near its 200 DMA line during its recent consolidation. Last week it reported earnings +38% on +26% sales revenues for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. Sales and earnings increases improved in recent quarterly comparisons (good C criteria) , but its annual earnings (A criteria) history has been up and down and below the guidelines of the fact-based system."

Holding its ground stubbornly and inching higher since the 10/26/11 mid-day report noted - "Gapped up today, hitting a new 52-week high after reporting earnings +95% on +91% sales revenues for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. Its past 3 quarterly comparisons (Mar, Jun, Sep '11) show impressive sequential acceleration in its sales revenues and earnings increases, satisfying the C criteria of the fact-based system. The downturn in its FY '09 earnings is a flaw concerning the A criteria. It is trading +77% above its 200 DMA line, a sign that it is extended from a sound base after the considerable rally from its February 2011 lows in the $11 area."

Holding its ground today after spiking to a new 52-week high on 10/28/11 after reporting earnings +54% on +20% sales revenues for the quarter ended September 30, 29011 versus the year ago period. It is extended from any sound base pattern and trading more than +100% above its 200 DMA line, warranting caution even while it may produce more climactic gains.
