More details about this report...
At around
mid-way through each trading day we run
a screen against our database of
high-ranked stocks, searching for
possible buy candidates that are trading
at or near their 52-week high on above
average volume. The results of that
screen are split into the two sections
you see below. The first, titled
"TODAY's FEATURED STOCKS" shows stocks
that our experts have recently
identified as among the strongest candidates to
consider. Stocks highlighted in yellow
are the most timely and noteworthy, so
particular attention and prompt action
may be appropriate. The second section,
titled "TODAY's BREAKOUT SCREEN" shows
the remainder of stocks meeting today's
screen parameters. Our experts have
reviewed and included notes on these
stocks as well, but found that they may
not match up as favorably.

Most Recent Note - 10/28/2011 12:27:03 PM
Y - Challenging its 52-week high with a considerable gain today. It gapped up on the prior session and broke out of a "double bottom" base pattern after reporting earnings +86% on +39% sales revenues for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. It had slumped below its 200 DMA line during its consolidation since dropped from the Featured Stocks list on 6/17/11. Volume-driven gains this week are indicative of institutional accumulation. Color code is changed to yellow with pivot point based on its 52-week high plus 10 cents while it is rallying "straight up from the bottom" of a 22-week cup shaped base. No overhead supply remains to act as resistance, and volume-driven gains above its pivot point may trigger a new technical buy signal.

Y - Color code is changed to yellow with pivot point based on its 7/07/11 high plus 10 cents. Considerable gap up gain today, rallying straight up from the bottom of a 16-week cup shaped base. Challenging its 52-week and all-time highs after reporting earnings +103% on +34% sales revenues for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. Sales revenues and earnings increases (C criteria) have been strong in recent quarterly comparisons. Concern was previously noted because its annual earnings (A criteria) history was up and down, yet recent fundamental and technical action has been a better match for winning models of the fact-based investment system.

Y - Gapped down today, dipping under its pivot point, yet it remains perched only -7.9% off its 52-week high. On 10/25/11 it priced a Secondary Offering after the 10/24/11 gain with more than 4 times average volume triggered a technical buy signal. Strong quarterly and annual earnings history satisfies the C and A criteria.

Y - Perched near its 52-week high today after an 8-week base-on-base type consolidation. Color code is changed to yellow and new pivot point cited is based on its 52-week high plus 10 cents. Its rebound above its 50 DMA line this week helped its outlook. Fundamentals remain strong and it just reported earnings +55% on +24% sales revenues for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. Based on weak action it was dropped from the Featured Stocks list on 10/03/11, yet it found impressive support and stayed well above its 200 DMA line.

Gapped up today and hit a new 52-week high, rising clear of all resistance due to overhead supply. Strong sales revenues and earnings increases versus the year earlier periods in recent quarterly comparisons satisfy the C criteria. Its annual earnings (A criteria) growth has not been strong and steady, so it is fundamentally below guidelines of the fact-based investment system.

Volume-driven gains late this week have it rallying to new all-time highs from an orderly base with no overhead supply remaining to act as resistance. Recently reported earnings +118% on +19% sales revenues for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. Recent quarterly comparisons showed strong earnings increases. Prior mid-day reports noted - "Insider buying reported in late 2010 was noted after clearing its 2007 high as a very reassuring sign, however its erratic annual earnings (A criteria) history falls short of the investment system's guidelines."

Gapped up today after reporting earnings +49% on +49% sales revenues for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. Hitting new all-time highs with no overhead supply to hinder its progress. Its sub par earnings results for the 2 prior quarters (Mar and Jun '11) remain a concern, as the C criteria calls for strong increases in the past 3 or 4 quarterly comparisons. On 4/29/11 fundamental and technical weakness prompted it to be dropped from the Featured Stocks list.

Rebounding to within -7.4% of its 52-week high today. Sales revenues and earnings were above the +25% guideline for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 but its prior earnings history is not a match with the investment system's guidelines. It plunged from $58 to $20 in 4 months after weak technical action prompted it to be dropped from the Featured Stocks list on 8/01/2008, serving as an example of why investors should limit all losses at 7-8%. It broke down shortly after its appearance as a promising looking buy candidate in the July 2008 issue of CANSLIM.net News (see here).

Challenging its 52-week high today, rising from a "double bottom" base pattern which may be considered a riskier "late stage" base. Due to report earnings on Tuesday, November 1st. Strong sales revenues and earnings increases in its recent quarterly comparisons versus the year ago period(s) satisfy the C criteria. This high-ranked Cosmetics / Personal Care group leader had a downward turn in FY '09 annual earnings history (flaw in respect to A criteria). Ownership by top-rated funds fell from 630 in Jun '11 to 604 in Sep '11, whereas rising institutional interest (I criteria) is preferred.

Recent quarterly comparisons show strong sales revenues and earnings increases easily satisfying the C criteria. A downward turn in FY '08 and '09 earnings (A criteria) is a fundamental flaw.

Spiking to a new 52-week high today after reporting earnings +54% on +20% sales revenues for the quarter ended September 30, 29011 versus the year ago period. It is extended from any sound base pattern and trading more than +100% above its 200 DMA line, warranting caution even while it may produce more climactic gains. The 10/10/11 mid-day report noted - "Earnings increased by +125% on +26% sales revenues for the quarter ended June 30, 2011. Showing impressive sequential acceleration in recent quarterly comparisons, but prior quarterly comparisons showed lackluster sales revenues increases well below the +25% guideline, leaving some fundamental concerns."

Most Recent Note for TCBI - 10/28/2011 1:43:44 PM
Rising near its 52-week high today and no overhead supply remains to hinder its progress. Rebounded from a slump below its 50 and 200 DMA lines while consolidating since noted in the 7/25/11 mid-day report following a "breakaway gap" for a new 52-week high. Reported earnings +124% on +13% sales revenues for the quarter ended September 30, 2011. Recent quarters showed strong earnings increases versus the year earlier that satisfy the C criteria. Its annual earnings (A criteria) growth has not been strong and steady, so it is fundamentally below guidelines of the fact-based investment system.

Most Recent Note for TSCO - 10/28/2011 1:45:54 PM
Hovering near its 52-week high today, holding its ground with volume totals cooling after last week's considerable gains with heavy volume. Reported earnings +45% on +18% sales revenues for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. Since noted in the 9/30/11 mid-day report it found support near its 200 DMA line, but its choppy consolidation was not recognized as a sound base pattern. Reported earnings +18% on +11% sales revenues for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 versus the year ago period, below the investment system's guidelines, however its quarterly and annual earnings history (C and A criteria) has otherwise been strong enough to be considered a worthy candidate under the fact-based investment system. TSCO was long ago featured in the June '03 CANSLIM.net News.

Inching higher today after a considerable gap up gain on 10/27/11 spiking to a new 52-week high. Reported earnings +21% on +5% sales revenues for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. It survived but failed to impress, and fundamentals today are below guidelines, while this previously featured Computer-Tech Services firm was dropped from the Featured Stocks list on 9/24/08 due to technical weakness.

Rising to challenge its 52-week high, and no resistance remains due to overhead supply. Recent quarterly comparisons show sales revenues and earnings improving near the minimum guidelines, but its annual earnings (A criteria) history is below the guidelines of the fact based system.
